*NOTICE TO RESIDENTS OF CANADA:
The following information is offered solely as "possible help" for our Canadian Customers and may be incorrect or subject to change without notice. Bright Power Sports, Inc., assumes no responsibility for the accuracy of the information provided and advises the "Customer" to inquire directly with a Canada Border Services Agency Office or the Canadian Border Information Service.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING SHIPMENTS TO CANADA:
Shipping charges and methods of shipment (usually either mail or courier) quoated on your Bright Power Sports Invoice do not represent the total of the costs you'll have to pay to get your ordered items from the USA, across the Canadian border and delivered to you.
Although, The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), ensures Canadians do not have to pay duty on most American and Mexican manufactured items that may not exempt you from additional charges and fees for products produced elsewhere. Items, purchased from a U.S. store, does not imply the product was "made" in the United States or Mexico. In fact, it's quite possible the product was imported into the United States first. If so, you may be charged "duty" and other fees when it comes into Canada.
IMPORTANT: Duties on goods vary widely, depending on the product and the country in which it was manufactured. Other charges and duties may also apply depending on the item. Therefore, we highly recommend that you "check before you buy" and if possible determine the products origin as you will need to consider, and be ready to pay, any and all additional Canada customs duties, taxes and custom brokerage fees on goods ordered from us and shipped across the border.
If you have specific questions about Canada customs and duties, please contact a Canada Border Services Agency office or the Border Information Service.
The following is a list of possible additional fees to which your order may be subject:
- Canada Customs Duties
- Canadian Taxes
- Canadian Provincial Sales Tax
(PST) or Quebec Sales Tax (QST)
- Customs Brokers Fees
- Canadian Postal Fees
- Canada Customs Duties
Canadian Taxes:
As a general rule, most everything individuals import into Canada, is subject to the Goods and Services Tax (GST) of five percent (5%). The GST is calculated after customs duties have been applied.
Canadian Provincial Sales Tax (PST) or Quebec Sales Tax (QST):
Be advised: You may also be required to pay the applicable Canadian Provincial Sales Tax (PST) or Quebec Sales Tax (QST). The provincial retail sales tax rates vary from province to province, as do the goods and services to which the tax is applied and the way the tax is applied. In the provinces of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Ontario and British Columbia, a harmonized sales tax replaces both the five percent federal goods and services tax (GST) and the provincial sales tax and is applied on the same basis as the GST. In Nova Scotia the HST is 15 percent; in New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Ontario the HST is 13 percent; in British Columbia the HST is 12 percent.
Customs Brokers Fees:
Courier companies and postal services use customs brokers to get packages processed through Canada Customs at the Canadian border. Fees for that service will be passed along to you. Canada Post automatically applies a $5.00 processing fee ($8.00 for Priority Post) for each package to clear Canada Customs.
Customs brokers fees for courier companies vary, but are usually higher than the Canada Post fee.
Bright Power Sports uses UPS who charges a $15.00 (USD) Broker Fee.
