Battery

The most important factor to consider when keeping your used ATV maintained is protecting the battery. The battery is a simple component, but it’s vital for your engine to start, lights to turn on and gauges to work. To keep it in good condition, clean the battery posts (the metal parts that connect the battery to the rest of your vehicle's components) every month or so. If they get corroded or have a layer of crust around them, you’ll most likely need to buy a new battery. Finally, in the winter, take your battery out and set it somewhere inside where its dry. Radiator Cap & Coolant

Coolant keeps your engine from overheating during long rides, ensuring your motor doesn't stop working halfway through the trail. It's important to remember that the radiator cap on your used ATV is there for two reasons: to keep coolant in your engine and to draw coolant into the engine. Meaning that a loose seal can drop performance and lead to overheating. So be sure to check your cap and replace or repair the seal as necessary. The fluid may never need to be replaced, but you may have to top it up as needed. If your radiator is leaking and producing a pool of fluids under your used ATV make sure you have a service technician address this as soon as possible.
